Two non-locals were shot dead by terrorists in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, on Wednesday. The deceased have been identified as Amritpal Singh, a resident of Amritsar, Punjab, and Rohit (27), according to Kashmir Police.

The firing took place in the Shalla Kadal area of Srinagar and the area has been cordoned off. Militant Group ‘The Resistance Front or TRF’ has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The office of LG Manoj Sinha posted on microblogging site, “I am deeply shocked and saddened by the heinous terror attack in Srinagar on Amritpal & Rohit from Amritsar. I condemn in strongest terms this brutal act, which has snuffed out an innocent life. In this hour of grief, I convey my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.”
Former Chief Minister of Kashmir and Jammu & Kashmir National Conference Chief Farooq Abdullah expressed shock over the death of Amritpal Singh and expressed condolences to the family.
“Violence should have no place in our society and such acts of barbarity only serve to hinder the progress & peace we strive for,” the party said in its statement.
Jammu and Kashmir’s People’s Democratic Party also expressed grief over the incident.
Jammu Kashmir National Conference vice president, Omar Abdullah condemned the attack and sent his prayers for the swift recovery of the injured person.
“I unequivocally condemn the attack that claimed the life of Amrit Pal Singh & left another person fighting for their life in hospital. I send my condolences to the family & loved ones of the deceased and prayers for the swift recovery of the injured person.” he posted on X.
