CHENNAI: Exactly a month after V K Sasikala and her kin were ousted from the AIADMK, Chief Minister and party chief J Jayalalithaa on Wednesday shuffled the portfolios of four Ministers — Agri S S Krishnamoorthy, C Ve Shanmugam, S P Velumani and P Thangamani. A Raj Bhavan communique said Governor K Rosaiah has approved the re-allocation of portfolios.Krishnamoorthy’s portfolios — Commercial Taxes and Registration and Stamp Act — have been allocated to C Ve Shanmugam, while Shanmugam’s portfolios — School Education and Archaeology, Sports and Youth Welfare, Tamil Official Language and Tamil Culture — have been given to Krishnamoorthy.While Krishnamoorthy will be designated as Minister for School Education and Sports and Youth Welfare, Shanmugam will be designated as Minister for Commercial Taxes and Registration, Law, Courts and Prisons. Shanmugam will continue to hold the portfolios of Personnel and Administrative Reforms and Prevention of Corruption.The portfolios of Industries, Steel Control Mines and Minerals and special initiatives, now held by Velumani, have been allocated to P Thangamani, who was holding Revenue.Revenue, District Revenue Establishment, Deputy Collectors, Weights and Measures, Debt Relief, including Legislation on Money-lending, chits and Registration of Companies, held by Thangamani now go to Velumani. He will be designated as Minister for Revenue, while Thangamani will be Minister for Industries.
