New Delhi: The Delhi Police has arrested former JDU MLA Raju Singh, accused of severely injuring an individual during celebratory firing on the new year’s eve at a south Delhi farmhouse. He along with his driver, Hari Singh; have been arrested from Kushi Nagar in Uttar Pradesh.
According to police, during investigation, they recovered two rifles and a pistol along with 800 live cartridges from the crime scene.
The former legislator and his driver are both accused of celebratory firing in which their guest, Archana (40), was critically injured. Archana's husband Vikas is a friend of the accused MLA’s brother. They were invited for the new year celebration in the farmhouse.
Archana, who received a gunshot injury in her head, is said to be in a critical condition.
Police sources have said that the family of the accused also tried to eliminate the evidence from the crime scene. They allegedly tried to clean the blood stains from the floor.
Police have questioned the guests who were present at the party. There were approximately 70 people in the party out of which 35 were on the dance floor.
According to police, they got the information about the incident from the hospital. None of the guests made the PCR call. The accused and his driver were absconding after the incident but were finally arrested on Wednesday.
Police have indicated that more arrests are likely in the case soon. Flt Lt Rajan Dhall of the Fortis Hospital, said, "The patient was brought to the emergency at 00:18am on January 1st by her attendant in an extremely critical condition. She was attended by the doctor immediately and the medical treatment was administered as per protocol. Delhi Police was informed & a medico legal case was registered. The patient continues to be in critical state and is on life support.”
