J&K Cop attacked in Jammu, His AK-47 snatched
Two suspected terrorists allegedly attacked a policeman and snatched his service rifle in Jammu and Kashmir.

Srinagar: Two suspected terrorists allegedly attacked a policeman and snatched his service rifle in Jammu and Kashmir.

Sources told CNN-News18 that a constable, Muhammad Hanief, posted as a PSO of Maulana Sayeed Akhtar Dehlvi was attacked at Tawi Bridge in Jammu on late Saturday night.

The accused allegedly threw ‘gun powder’ at the cop and snatched his AK-47 rifle. One of the accused has reportedly been apprehended by the police.

A police official told CNN-News18, “Hanief was returning to deposit his service weapon when he was attacked.”

The Police identified the arrested youth as Masom Ahmad.

"I was hit by a hard object on the head. The suspect snatched my gun and ran away," Hanief told reporters.

He is currently undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College hospital, Jammu. The two accused who attacked the policemen are from Shopian district in south Kashmir. While one suspect has been arrested, police have launched an operation to find the other accused.
