Islamabad: Former South African player Jonty Rhodes has indicated to have got clearance from his country's United Cricket Board to join the Pakistan Cricket team as fielding consultant for two weeks.

The News quoted a PCB official "He should most probably join us later this month and work with the players leaving for England in the national camp," as saying on Monday.

Pakistan had approached Rhodes to help improve the fielding standards of the Pakistani players prior to the England tour.

But he had made it clear he would have to seek clearance from the UCBSA who also offered him a coaching assignment with the national team for the 2007 World Cup.

Rhodes told reporters in Dubai that he would be taking over as fielding coach of the South African team till the 2007 World Cup.

"I have had talks with the South African Cricket Board. Both my assignments are getting finalised. The South African Cricket Board has no objection to my proposed assignment with the Pakistan cricket team as it is only for two weeks," he had said.

On the South African team assignment, Rhodes said, "I am to be assigned as the fielding coach of the South African team for the Champions Trophy. I am likely to be involved in the India-Pakistan-South Africa triangular one-day series too."
