Jamui: A district court judge in Jamui rejected the criminal revision petition of of former Union minister and RJD leader Jaiprakash Narain Yadav on Wednesday.
Jamui district and sessions judge Muneshwar Prasad had reserved his order till after the hearing of Yadav's advocates and the government counsel was complete.
A battery of lawyers, including Supreme Court advocate S K Jain, assisted by Patna High Court advocates Rana Pratap Singh and Chitranjan Sinha defended Yadav saying that the issue of a non-bailable arrest warrant was a 'hasty and injudicious' decision.
However their hope that the order would be nullified and that the section 409 of IPC applied against Yadav (criminal breach of trust by public servant) would be deleted was quashed.
Jaiprakash was alleged to have misused his official position to secure the unlawful release of his brother, who was arrested while moving in his constituency with a rifle, ammunition, Rs 6.68 lakh cash, a detonator and liquor.
He resigned from the Union ministry amid mounting demand by the NDA for his ouster after a non-bailable warrant was issued against him and his anticipatory bail pleas was rejected.
