KARAIKAL: Saraswathy Rethinam, a Plus-Two student at TR Pattinam GHSS in the district has bagged two bronze medals in the International Vovinam Martial Art championship held at Ho Chi Minh city in Vietnam recently. Vovinam is a Vietnamese martial art practised with and without weapons.Saraswathy is talented in various forms of martial arts including Karate, Vovinam, Kata, Single fight, group fight and other events. She has previously won championship titles at state-level and national-level events. In the international Vovinam Championship events held in Vietnam a few days back, Saraswahy represented India in 51-kg female category and bagged a bronze medal.She also bagged another bronze medal in a group event along with two other Indians. ‘As many as 22 countries including Vietnam, Italy, France, Iran, Laos, Indonesia and Cambodia participated in the championship. We fought against champions and top teams, played well and win medals,” said Saraswathy.She added that she has been selected for the forthcoming South East Asian games to be held in Iran in October this year. “I look forward to give my best and win medals for India,” she said. Master Sanalkumar offers training to Sarasawathy in various martial arts.
