KCR calls upon women to join Telangana stir

HYDERABAD: TRS chief K Chandrasekhar has Rao called upon women to take an active part in the Telangana movement for fulfillment of the long-standing wish of the people of the region.Addressing a Mahila Sadassu organised by the women’s wing of the party at Telangana Bhavan here on Tuesday, Rao strongly criticised Union home minister P Chidambaram’ statement and demanded that the Centre  resolve the Telangana issue without any delay. He said all people of Telangana were demanding a separate state and no one was supporting the Samaikyandhra demand and wondered why the Congress-led UPA government wanted to suppress the Telangana movement which was democratic. He appealed to youth and students not to commit suicide and said political leaders were ready for any sacrifice to achieve the T state. He asked the women’s wing to organise protest programmes at all levels by involving SHG women.  Expressing her concern over the unabated suicides in Telangana, Medak MP Vijayashanti blamed the Congress-led UPA government for the prevailing political situation. Noting that women’s participation in the current movement was on a scale lower than in 1969, she called upon women to take active part in the movement. She thanked leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha and BJP leader Sushma Swaraj for raising the Telangana issue in the Lok Sabha. TRS women’s wing president Tula Uma and other leaders attended the meeting.
