BANGALORE: Kannada Development Authority (KDA) will felicitate as many as 1,246 students who wrote the tenth standard and PUC examinations and topped in the year 2010-11 in Kannada medium, KDA chairman Mukyamantri Chandru informed here on Friday.Speaking to newsmen Chandru informed that KDA has mooted the idea to motivate students especially from the rural areas to write their annual exams in Kannada.He said that students would be felicitated at a function to be organised at the concerned divisional headquarters and they will be presented a memento, certificate, a wrist watch, a school bag with stationery and dictionaries.He said that the KDA would also present Rs 15,000 cash each to students who stood first at the state level for writing exams in Kannada. The students who secure first, second and third place at the taluk level would be honoured with cash reward of Rs 8,000, Rs 7,000 and Rs 6,000 respectively.He said that Ganesha Mahabaleshwara Hegde, a student from Swamy Vivekananda High School, Heggarani, Sidhapura in North Canara district had bagged first prize in tenth standard and Israr Banu of Gadag district adjudged topper in the PUC annual examination. “Both would be honoured with cash reward of Rs 15,000 each,” he said.
