Kerala cops seek help to nab inter-state burglar

The Kerala police have sought the help of city police and public to nab an inter-state burglar. He is also involved in a policeman’s murder.

Following reports that the accused was seen in Sanjaynagar and Bhoopasandra, the Kerala police have sought for help. They are on the look out for Antony alias Adu Antony, 49, a native of Kollam district in Kerala.

While still in jail in 2007, the school drop out had taken up SSLC examinations.

In a press release, the Kerala police said, “On June 25, when two policemen of Parippally police station were on night patrol, they were brutally attacked by a notorious burglar. Senior Civil Police Officer Maniyan Pillai, who was driving, was murdered while grade Sub-Inspector Joy was injured. Fingerprints and the vehicle used for the crime revealed that Antony alias Adu Antony was behind the attack. He is an inter-state criminal and operates in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. He has an ID proof and driving licence in the name Rajesh S of Thiruvananthapuram. Also, he has possess a PAN card (number: AWEPR0626D) in the name of Rajesh S of M R Nagar in Kodungaiyur in Chennai. He is known as Mohanraj and Satheesh Kumar in Tamil Nadu.”

According to the police, “He is 174 cm, well-built and of medium complexion. He was a cable operator and used to engage in disposal of computer parts. He is well-dressed, and always wears full-sleeved shirt and tie. In 2002, he was arrested from Calicut, which helped in detecting 40 cases. He was released on bail three months later. In 2004, he was arrested in Chennai and was released from Central Jail Viyyoor in March 2008. Following this, he involved in many burglaries in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. After his release, his finger prints were traced in 17 cases.”

They added that stolen articles were recovered from his house in Chennai. The police further said, “He has an illicit relationship with about 17 women. Often he is accompanied by women and now, we are informed that he is wandering in Bhoopasandra and Sanjaynagar. He mostly spends time in areas where Tamilians reside.”
