Kottayam: A police officer in the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police has been suspended in connection with the alleged rape of a woman at Champathal near Kottayam, police said on Thursday.
TA Antony had been placed under suspension, pending probe, based on an 'express report' submitted by Kottayam Superintendent of Police after the woman lodged a complaint, they said.
According to the complaint, the woman was taken to the officer's quarters last Sunday and sexually assaulted.
An FIR has already been registered against the officer, police said.
