NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Wednesday asked the expert committee, constituted to consider the issues relating to the Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple, to give an opinion on opening the Vault B of the temple.A Bench comprising Justice R M Lodha and Justice A K Patnaik said they had asked the expert committee to go into this question, deliberate and give its opinion in its last year’s order. The panel should now make its opinion known, it added. The Bench clarified that the question of opening Vault B should be taken up only after making an inventory of the valuables in Vault A.It further said that the temple security related expenditure should be borne in the ratio of two-third and one-third by the Kerala state and the temple management, respectively. The Bench also went through the fourth report submitted by the expert committee. In its report, the panel has sought directions with regard to three points: a) whether Vault B could be opened; b) whether permission should be granted for building a security wall; and c) in what proportion the expenditure relating to temple security and security wall construction should be borne. The expert committee informed the apex court that 90 per cent of works relating to the Vault C inventory was complete.
