THIRUVANANATHAPURAM: Inspired by the success of a kathakali workshop, Natana, the fine arts club of Technopark, is organising a koodiyattam workshop and performance on the campus at 5 pm on Thursday at Park Centre. The workshop covers areas of acting through ‘mudras’, gestures and body movements (‘ilakiyattom’ and ‘pakarnattom’), the ‘navarasas’ (nine expressions), different types of dance movements and an introduction to ‘ahaarya’ (costume and make-up) along with ‘aniyara parichayam’ (green room). Koodiyattam artistes Guru Kalamandalam Girija Devi and Kalamandalam Kanaka Kumar will lead the workshop. The programme has been conceptualised by Harikrishnan Krishnakumar, a trained artist and senior process associate at Technopark-based Allianz. The workshop will be followed by a koodiyattam performance ‘Jatayuvadhangam’ at 6.30 pm. Kalamandalam Raveendran (Ravanan), Kalamandalam Kanaka Kumar (Jatayu), Kalamandalam Vijitha (Seetha), Kalamandalam Sohan (Soothan), Kalamandalam Ramanunni and Kalamandalam Sajikumar (‘mizhavu’), Harikrishnan K (‘edakka’), Guru Kalamandalam Girija Devi (‘thalam’), Kalamandalam Nikhil, Kalamandalam Ramith and Margi Sreejith (‘chutti’ and ‘aniyara’) will be part of the performance.
