BANGALORE: In what may dent your travel plans, the Rs 3.72 hike in diesel rates in consequence has forced both Karnataka State Road Transport and Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation to increase their ticket rates.
KSRTC has decided to increase its fare by 6.9 per cent on an average. The increase of fares for ordinary services is limited to only 5.12 per cent. NorthWest Karnataka Road Transport Corporation and NorthEast Karnataka Road Transport Corporations are also revising fares with immediate effect in the same proportion. "We had asked for a higher hike, however, the increase state government has allowed would still moderate the prices enough for us to balance our expenses without really putting the public to any discomfort," KSRTC Managing Director Gaurav Gupta said.
