The ongoing Cauvery agitation has cost Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) dear. According to officials, the KSRTC is incurring loss to the tune of `1 crore daily since last Saturday. “Out of the Rs 1crore, Rs 35 lakh loss is incurred due to disruption of bus services in Bangalore -Mysore sector,” the official said on condition of anonymity.
Deputy Chief Minister and Transport Minister R Ashok told reporters here, “The movement of vehicles between Bangalore-Mysore is affected but has not stopped completely. During the day, the traffic on the main road is affected but after 5 pm everyday the road is clear,” he said.
Since the Bangalore-Mysore state highway is blocked by protesters, the commuters travelling between the cities have to take a road that goes via Kanakapura and Bannur, which is around 40 km more than the state highway.
On the city police’s decision of closing the road in front of the CM’s official residence from Shivananda Circle to Windsor Manor Circle for security reasons, he said, “The police have taken the decision. I will look into it,” he said.
