New Delhi: Do not be surprised if you see the young and old laughing hysterically in parks on Sunday.

They would only be celebrating 'World Laughter Day', which is observed on the first Sunday of May.

On the occasion of the 'World Laughter Day', initiated by the worldwide Laughter Yoga movement, a large number of people, including at least 5,000 children, have participated in a two-and-a-half hour long camp to teach benefits of laughter yoga in fighting tension and diseases.

The camp, held at Dilli Haat Pitampura, is part of a three-day programme to reach out to people and involve them into the worldwide laughter movement, said a member of the Club Hasya Yoga Kendra, the body organising the event in the capital.

“We will teach children and others how to achieve peace of mind and happiness through the practise of laughter yoga and the ways in which it can help prevent disease,” added the member.

World Laughter Day was initiated by Madan Kataria, founder of the worldwide Laughter Yoga movement.
