Lawyer chants 'Vande Mataram' in SC during Delhi court violence hearing
Expressing concern over the way the slogans were raised, the apex court said, "if this is happening inside the SC then what are we left to say."

Dramatic scenes were witnessed in the Supreme Court during the hearing of a plea on the Patiala House Court violence in which lawyers thrashed journalists and Jawaharlal Nehru University students. Lawyer Rajeev Tadac present in the courtroom shouted slogans of 'Vande Mataram' disrupting the proceedings.

Expressing concern over the way the slogans were raised, the apex court said, "if this is happening inside the SC then what are we left to say." Thereafter the lawyer who chanted the slogans inside the courtroom submitted unconditional apology to the bench.

The court also condemned the violence that took place in Patiala House Court. It has directed the Delhi Police and concerned authorities to ensure safety and security of litigants and journalists in Patiala House Court where JNU students' union president Kanhaiya Kumar is being produced on Wednesday.

To ensure safety, the apex court has restricted the entry of people in Patiala House court to 20. It has allowed 5 journalists who can attend and 2 people from the JNU students and faculty who can attend the proceedings. While 5 journalists have been allowed inside the court room, 25 others have been allowed in the premises.

While hearing is on in SC regarding safety of journalists, DCP New Delhi visited the Patiala House Court to review the security. The counsel for Delhi Police has assured the SC that enough security arrangements have been made for the hearing at Patiala House Court.

There is heavy barricading and police presence outside the Patiala House Court. Nearly three companies of CRPF have been placed outside the premises.
