Lawyers body demands faster end to dam issue

KOCHI: The Kerala High court Advocates Association sought an immediate intervention of the central and state governments on the Mullaperiyar issue. The general body meeting of the association held here on Tuesday expressed concern over the delay in finding a solution.The association also decided to observe Wednesday as ‘Solidarity Day’ in support of agitations held across the state. Association president Thomas Abraham and secretary Madhavan Kutty addressed the advocates. Madhavan Kutty informed that a function will be organised at 1.10 pm on the High Court premises where a solidarity pledge will be taken.Meanwhile, All India Lawyers Union urged the governments to take immediate steps to construct a new dam. The AILU alleged that the Central and state governments were showing criminal apathy on the issue.
