New Delhi: Lawyers at Patiala House court complex on Tuesday filed a complaint in New Delhi against an Additional DCP for "inhuman and derogatory" behaviour with a constable in the court premises after the cop was allegedly made to crawl on ground by his senior for talking on mobile while on duty.
In their complaint filed before District Judge H S Sharma, the lawyers said that Additional Deputy Commissioner Seju P Kuruvila of Delhi Police compelled constable Dinesh Kumar, who was on duty at gate number 6 of the court premises, to crawl on ground in uniform as punishment.
"It is informed that today at about 11 AM, we along with many other advocates and public saw a constable rolling/crawling on ground in uniform from gate number 6 towards courts.
"On inquiry, it was revealed that the above named Additional DCP (Kurvila) has compelled the constable to do such a humiliating and inhuman act," the complaint said.
Advocate Tarun Rana, Mahender Singh Yadav and others, in their complaint, alleged that Kurvila tore the badge from the uniform of the constable and snatched his mobile phone and also used abusive language.
"This act was so humiliating that all advocates gathered there felt ashamed and raised protest, on which the additional DCP misbehaved with the lawyers also," they alleged.
The lawyers, who were eye witness to the alleged incident, said that the additional DCP was angry over the constable talking on his mobile phone while being on duty at the entrance gate number 6.
They, in their complaint, urged the District Judge to take "necessary and strict action" against the Additional DCP so that such type of "cruel, illegal, inhuman, derogatory and violative acts" is not repeated in future.
Kuruvila could not be immediately reached for comment.
