LDF hartal peaceful in Kasargod

KASARGOD: The hartal declared by the LDF in the district on Wednesday in protest against the inefficiency of the government in rehabilitating endosulfan victims hardly affected normal life as the national highway was exempted from the hartal. The hartal was also in protest against the government’s move seeking correction in the report on endosulfan submitted by experts at Kozhikode Medical College. Though the transport system was not affected in the city, majority of the shops remained closed. The six-hour hartal that started at 6 am affected rural areas as the public transport was blocked by hartal supporters. KSRTC buses were blocked in Seethangoli, Konnakad and Panathur.The hartal was complete in the endosulfan-hit panchayats. A protest march was taken out by LDF leaders including E Chandrashekharan MLA, S Udayakumar and T Krishnan Karivellur from the New Bus Stand premises.Examinations and interviews in the district had been postponed in view of the hartal.
