CHENNAI: A lower court has awarded life imprisonment to 11 accused in a double murder case, on Tuesday.According to prosecution, Anand and Murugesan, brothers, were running a shop -- Arasu Audio Corporation -- in the building belonging to Saleem, a dance master, on North Usman Road in T Nagar. When Saleem asked the duo to vacate the premises, the latter refused to do so. An enraged Saleem hired 15 others and murdered Anand and Murugesan on April 26, 1993.Police arrested Saleem and the remaining 15 other accused. A case was registered for an offence under various sections of the IPC including 302 (murder). During the pendency of the case, five accused, including the main accused Saleem, died. Passing final orders today, I Pandurangam, III Additional Sessions Judge, said the prosecution had proved the charges against Narayanasamy and 10 others beyond reasonable doubt and awarded life term to each of them.
