SRIKAKULAM: After completion of the five-day cycle yatra, launched in protest against proposed Kovvada Nuclear Park in Ranasthalam mandal of the district, members of KNP Vyatirekha Porata Samithi on Monday submitted a memorandum comprising opinions of the sarpanches, Mandal Parishad heads and locals to Ranasthalam mandal special officer during the grievance cell programme on Monday.Speaking to media at Ranasthalam Tahasildar office, nuclear scientist Surendra Gadekhar said people have realised that the proposed nuclear park will pose a threat to the environment and health of the locals."After the tragic incidents at Sompeta and Santabommali, it is time for the government to stop projects which are against the will of the locals as the project will hit their traditional sources of livelihood," he said."We have submitted the memorandum and informed officials we will not allow any official of the Nuclear Power Corporation of India to enter our villages. We have also told the district administration that we we would start relay hunger strike against the project soon," said Kovvada sarpanch M Jaggulu and the National Association of People's Movement activist Saraswathi Kavula.
