Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi slammed BJP for only talking about infrastructure - roads, airports, railway lines- and ignoring the poor people of the state, while addressing a rally in Chittorgarh district of poll-bound Rajasthan on Tuesday.
"BJP only talks about roads and airports in the name of development. I agree, build roads and airports, but also help people so that they can one day fly in an airplane," he said, advocating the benefits of RTI that his party introduced using which "anyone can question the government on its decisions".
"Congress also works for infrastructure but at the same time, also serves the poor. We don't want a country where there are swanky airports but the poor farmer can only look at planes, can't fly. Our government assures you the right- right to a job, right to food. Lakhs of people have benefited from our pension schemes. We will connect Chittorgarh with Delhi and Mumbai and make it a world centre in cement industry," he assured his supporters.
Rahul Gandhi also slammed the BJP for opposing Food Security Bill, NREGA saying,"I meet BJP candidates in Parliament and often ask them that why are you against NREGA or the Food bill? They say when you give someone something for free people get spoilt. We say if people are in poverty then they need to get out of it. We will help them to get out of it".
"BJP doesn't think of the future, it only thinks of the present," he said alleging they had laughed even when Congress introduced computers but now they applaud the decision.
Calling BJP a party which is involved in creating fights between people of different communities, he alleged,"People from Maharashtra are made to fight with those from UP".
