Malayalam film 'Urumi' to be re-made in Tamil
The film talks about Vasco Da Gama's first venture on the Indian soil.

Mumbai: A special screening of the Tamil version of the Malayalam blockbuster ‘Urumi’ was held at the Four Frames preview theatre on Monday. Several well-known names from the Tamil film industry, including ace director Mani Ratnam, lyricist Vairamuthu, and producer Ramkumar turned up to watch the film, which has done extremely well in Kerala.

The story of the film, which stars Prithviraj, Prabhu Deva, Genelia and Vidya Balan in the lead, is set in the 15th century. It tells how Vasco Da Gama first came to the Indian shores and tried to ruthlessly exploit the locals, who fought for their rights.

Directed by Santosh Sivan, written by Shankar Ramakrishnan and produced by Prithviraj, Shaji Natesan and Santosh Sivan, the Tamil version of ‘Urumi’ will release soon.
