Maldives to recruit professionals from state

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Maldives Government, which has close ties with Kerala, will soon share the expertise of professionals from the state in their medical and education sectors.The Maldives Government has evinced interest in recruiting professionals from the state through the Non-Resident Keralites Affairs Department (NoRKA). In the initial phase, the recruitment will be through the job portal of NoRKA.NoRKA-Roots Secretary T K Manoj Kumar told ‘Express’ that institutions from Maldives had shown interest in registering with the portal. It’s just in the beginning stage and more companies will register in future, he said.‘’The responses to the job vacancies depend on the institution and the salary package they offer. Medical professionals are in great demand in Maldives and several Maldivians visit Kerala to undergo treatment,’’ he said. NoRKA will be a facilitator for the recruitment and will ensure that the employee is recruited to a quality firm which provides good remuneration. There is a good demand for professionals from the state and it will take some time to  provide major job openings in Maldives.As medical professionals are getting a decent remuneration in the state, institutions in Maldives will have to offer attractive packages for them. As the health sector in the state is recognised as the best in the country, Keralite doctors are in great demand in Maldives.The Maldives Government had already held discussions with the former LDF Government for signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for recruitment. The UDF Government is in the process of signing a deal in this regard and the draft had already been prepared.The Maldivies Government decided to strengthen its health sector as several citizens undergo medical treatment in Kerala.
