New Delhi: It is the comic timing of Manish Paul, a popular name on the small screen, that is keeping his career ticking at an impressive rate. The versatile actor, who makes his Bollywood debut with 'Mickey Virus', has been garnering buzz for making the biggest splash on the comedy scene today. After leaving everyone in splits with his quirky one-liners in 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa', Manish is all set to woo the cinema-goers with his upcoming film.
Whether it is Delhi as the backdrop or the film's cheeky title, many think 'Mickey Virus' bears a strong resemblance with National Award-winning film 'Vicky Donor'. Mention the same to Manish and he is quick to defend his movie. "I have been asked this question about 25,000 times. But the truth is that both the films are completely different. And the only so-called similarity only originates from the names Mickey and Vicky, and ends there. The viewers will agree with me once they watch my film, which is a comedy thriller that revolves around the issue of hacking," he says.
Much like his reel life, Manish admits to getting a kick out of breaking into friends' personal information in reality too. "I would break their passwords and access their email. It was funny to see them sulk and rue, 'I can't access my account!' After letting them whimper for hours, I'd say, 'I have got your new password.' Frankly, there's nothing smart about this. Majority of my friends would feed their mother's name as their security question. Now, isn't that really easy to crack? Nobody could crack my e-mail because I would feed Amitabh Bachchan as my mother's name," he snorts.
Interestingly, this isn't the only way he used to irk his pals, Manish had no qualms in tricking her co-star Elli Avram into learning cuss words. Manish also made her use profanity in the most unexpected manner. "Yes, it is true that I helped Elli learn a few cuss words. But all that was done in good humor. And thankfully, nobody had any issues with it. Elli wanted me to teach her Hindi language, and I helped her become aware of the ways to treat people and what to say when she got late for shoots. Since she wasn't aware of the real meaning, she would use them sans any qualms and leave everyone shocked and baffled," he says. "Elli is not dumb, she is just innocent. I'm happy that Salman Khan has been helping her lot," he adds.
After breaking through the barriers of stand-up comedy, and experiencing enormous success in TV industry, Manish is certain of the emerging victorious on 70 mm too. "The film 'Mickey Virus' holds a special significance in my life because it has helped me do virtually everything. From romance to action, comedy and shedding tears, I have had the chance to do all. I'm also happy the way Bollywood biggies have supported me in promoting the film. It felt great when Salman Khan, Ranbir Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit willingly promoted my film," he adds.
As Manish says, kicking off Bollywood journey with a comedy film was never a conscious decision. "I never choose my scripts. In my case, it is always works the other way round," he says.
