The Hindu Aikya Vedi, demanding a CBI inquiry into the Marad massacre, on Monday staged a demonstration in front of the Secretariat.
Inaugurating the demonstration, Gandhian Gopinathan Nair said that a CBI inquiry was very much needed in the Marad massacre in which eight Hindus had lost their lives.
He also said that then Chief Minister A K Antony and then Ministers P K Kunhalikutty and E Ahammed should keep their words with regard to the reconciliation talks held soon after the Marad massacre.
Gopinathan Nair demanded that the people who had injected communalism in the minds of the Muslims in Marad should be brought before the law. The Marad investigation will only be complete if all those behind the massacre are booked. “In Marad, it was just not a conflict between two communities but several forces were behind it,” he alleged.
Hindu Aikya Vedi general secretary Kummanam Rajashekaran, Marad Araya Samajam secretary T Murukesh and BJP state president V Muraleedharan were among those who addressed the protestors.
