KOCHI: The Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), International Copper Promotion Council, India, (ICPCI), and Society of Energy Engineers and Managers organised a seminar on Thursday to discuss power quality as the key to successful delivery of quality products and operation of any industry.Trade and industry require uninterrupted data services, leading to increasing nonlinear loads in the system which require better quality of power.Poor power quality therefore significantly hampers the competitiveness of the Indian manufacturing and service industry, in terms of its ability to meet customers' needs and investing partners' requirements on various production outputs. The seminar was aimed at raising awareness of managers and decisionmakers in manufacturing industries and to build the capacity of electrical engineers and electrical system designers on power quality to enhance the competitiveness of the service sector and manufacturing industries in terms of better production output quality, reduced production costs and improved financial strength, reduced production line interruption and production losses.
