PALAKKAD: A 15-year-old scheduled caste girl, who is slightly mentally challenged and residing at the quarters of a private estate in Attapadi, was also subjected to sexual harassment, according to reports. She is also reported to be pregnant.When the case came to light last week, the girl reportedly identified the accused to the Sholayur police.  The police have not filed a case in this regard yet, but has reportedly pushed for a reconciliation by suggesting that after the girl deliver the child a DNA test be performed. If the tests turn out to be positive, arrangements would be made to wed the two.TWO REMANDEDMeanwhile, two persons arrested by the Agali police were produced at the Mannarkad First Class Judicial Magistrate Court and remanded to custody. The first accused is Balan and the second Karamadayan. It was in the unfinished house of Karamadayan that the adivasi woman was raped.Meanwhile, the 55-year-old adivasi woman who was gangraped at Kulapathy Ooru, Attapadi was brought to the Palakkad district hospital again for a medical check up. The hospital authorities is reported to have confirmed that the woman was subjected to sexual harassment confirmed by the injury marks on her body. However, the doctors could not confirm on the rape because of her age, said Manoj Kumar R, CI of Agali police station.The woman was brought in again today because she had left quietly yesterday night along with her family members, police said. She had left after seeing the huge number of news channel cameras and reporters outside the hospital. She was brought in again today to make sure that all the necessary tests were conducted, Manoj said.He said that on reaching the district hospital today, the doctors said that they had conducted all the tests yesterday itself and hence had let her return to Attapadi yesterday. She returned with a ward member of the Pudur panchayat who had come to visit her.The case is registered based on the testimony of the adivasi woman, and her daughter who said two persons had come to their house and called her mother outside.
