HYDERABAD: A committee has been formed by Andhra Pradesh police to look into the proposal to form a chief commissionerate by joining the Hyderabad and Cyberabad police commissionerates on the lines of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. Sources told Express that deliberations had been going on for sometime to have a chief commissionerate by joining the existing two commissionerates, which is being described as DGP V Dinesh Reddy’s ‘pet project’. “The idea is to have a uniform policy on issues of policing in both Hyderabad and Cyberabad,” police officials said. Additional DGP (Law & Order) SA Huda said in a press release that various committees comprising senior police officials have been formed to look into various issues including having a chief commissionerate. Huda said the committees will also look into issues like standardisation of uniform, dress code for traffic police, estate officer for police lands, installation of surveillance cameras, standardisation of police vehicles and reorganisation of police stations, circles and divisions. The move comes due to the fact that various zones of Hyderabad commissionerate are surrounded entirely by Cyberabad commissionerate and for policing Cyberabad, one has to criss-cross through jurisdiction of Hyderabad commissionerate. A chief commissionerate would help in efficient policing, officials said.Sources said the possibility of having more zones than the existing ones was also being discussed. There is also a proposal to appoint DG rank officer as chief commissioner, sources said.
