BALASORE: A minor girl was alleged raped in Tentulia village under Berhampur police limits in Balasore district on Thursday.Police said the 9-year-old girl of Dhapada village had gone to Tentulia along with her grandfather to witness the Ravana podi. The accused allegedly lured the girl on the pretext of buying her a chocolate.Berhampur police station OIC Brahmananda Nayak said the girl was rescued by villagers from the nearby forest behind the school. The accused, however, managed to escape before the villagers could reach the spot.The police have registered a case following a complaint lodged by the victim’s father. The girl has been medically examined. While rape is suspected, police investigation is on. “Since the accused is unknown to the victim, it will be a little difficult to ascertain his whereabouts. Efforts are on to nab him,” the police officer added.
