Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar on Saturday announced that the government will set up a Male Mahadeshwara Study Chair in the University of Mysore and Folk University and establish an MM Hills Development Authority for the overall development of pilgrimage centres, including Himavad Gopalaswamy Hills in Chamarajanagar region.
At the Sri Male Mahadeshwara Jayanti celebrations held at the Exhibition Grounds here on Saturday, he said that steps will be taken to consider the Folk Research Centre in MM Hills as a branch of the Folk University, he said. He said that 41 acres attached to the temple will be developed as a park and handed over to the temple.
Shettar said that he will take part in the Cauvery Authority meeting convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi on September 19.
