The two cockerels were seized when a cockfight gambling den was busted in Madhya Pradesh's Betul.

Bhopal: In an unusual incident, Betul police ‘arrested’ two roosters and kept them in jail before producing them before a local court in Betul district of Madhya Pradesh.

On Sunday, Athneri police have busted a gambling den in Khairi village following a tip off and seized two cockerels and nine motorbikes. The police also arrested two men from the spot for allegedly organising the cockfight.

However, after the raid, the police personnel kept the cocks confined into the lock up and served food to them for two days before presenting them before the local Bhaisdehi court along with other accused.

The accused pleaded guilty before the court, which let them go after imposing penalties on them and also handed over the roosters to them. The court however warned them to not use the birds again for any betting.
