TIRUPUR: Three persons were killed and three others severely injured when a car, lorry and a motorbike were involved in a multiple collision near Avinashi on Sunday.Police sources said that four employees of a Kancheepuram sculpture centre were returning to Kancheepuram from Avinashi on Sunday night by car. Babu alias Luokas, 24, from Thachur at Mathuranthakkam near Chengalpattu was driving. When they were nearing Avinashi, he tried to overtake a vehicle, lost control and rammed against a lorry, which was coming from opposite side.Babu, as well as Fernadallu, 26, and Poori Pragalathan,24, sustained severe injuries and died on the spot. Another passenger Ganesh alias Kutti, 24, was severely injured.As the lorry came to a halt, a motorbike following the lorry rammed into it from behind. Manikandan,19, who was riding the bike and the pillion rider Govindaraj,40, sustained severe injuries. The injured were admitted to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. Avinashi Police recovered the three bodies and sent them for post-mortem. An investigation is on, said the police.
