Mumbai: Just hours after declaring that they were on strike, the motormen on the suburban network's Western Line withdrew their strike on Friday evening.
However, before the motormen withdrew their strike, the lifeline of Mumbai took a hit as the services on the Western Line that caters to close to 36 lakh people everyday was pretty much halted.
There are also huge traffic jams on roads, with buses packed to the rafters.
According to the motormen, those who went on strike in 2010 for a day were being harassed by the railway management. The motormen alleged that there confidential reports were adverse and demanded that it be corrected.
Speaking to CNN-IBN, Western Railway motormen association president Devendra Yadav had said, "More than 200 assistant motormen have taken sick leave. We have raised several demands before the government."
