Quite a morning it turned out to be, talking to passengers in the local train who turned out to be marathon enthusiasts as well.

At the start line there were just six runners from the TV 18 team and thousands of people affliated to other corporates, most of them dressed for a carnival. And all running for a cause. Nobody cared if they ran shoulder to shoulder to any celeb or bumped into one , it was more about running and making a statement for all those muscles that lay underutilised all these years. Sweating profusely and running to chants of "Run Mumbai Run" by Mumbaites who stood on the bylines encouraging runners, I caught sight of fellow colleague doing a live and talking to two cheerleaders with pom poms in their hands. Called out to him, he obviously seemed quite engrossed in the conversation to notice anyone else.

Running on a clear road with people of all ages, sizes was a wonderful experience. Mumbai spirit was at an all time high, where else would you find people at 7 in the morning cheering people from the sidelines. I ran the first five kms and walked the rest two, and was immensely happy after I crossed the finishing line in an hours time. Seven kilometres, 60 minutes no training whatsoever, not bad I said. Quite proud of myself walked to the nearest Kayani Bakery and chomped on a huge breakfast consisting of bun maska, paani kam chai, toast and egg cheese bhurjee and mangola. So all those calories that was burned up found their way back into a very happy body.

So despite the moans and groans of my body, I feel proud of doing something and accomplishing something. Next time 21 kms, I think, too ambitious... Nah dont think so. And to all those who asked me to take a health insurance before I ran(and there were many) , well you can stuff your face into a wall for all I care.
I ran 7 kms and you didnt...its as simple as that!!
