Initial reports suggest that the accused tried to kill the girl after a failed rape attempt.
Mumbai: A 17-year-old youth was on Tuesday arrested for allegedly attempting to rape and murder a 23-year-old girl in Mumbai.
According to reports, the accused works as a pizza deliveryman. Worli Police said that the girl had placed an order for a pizza with Chovisan Pizza Center in the area on Wednesday evening.
The accused brought the pizza to her residence, and after noticing that she was alone, he allegedly barged in and tried to rape her, police said.
As the girl resisted and raised an alarm, he assaulted her with a kitchen knife and ran away, they said. She was taken to Poddar hospital. The accused was immediately arrested and sent to juvenile remand home.
