CHENNAI: There was high drama at Pazhavanthangal when a six-member gang attacked a murder accused after on Saturday evening.The public, who witnessed the incident, caught hold of one of the gang members and beat him up.Police said that a six-member gang called one Babu to come out of his house at Pazhavanthangal and started attacking him. By then, the public who gathered caught hold of one of the gang members ‘Bomb’ Ganesan and beat him up.Ganesan was admitted to the GH, while Babu was admitted to GGH.Police said the enmity between them after a cricket match in 2009 when two gangs - one led by Appu alias Sandhana Kumar of Amman Nagar in Tirusulum - and the other by Christo Raj of Burma Colony - played against each other and ended up fighting.Later, Christo Raj’s uncle Babu and his accomplice Selvam, murdered Appu and were arrested. Babu’s friend Gunalan, who attempted to get a bail for the three men, was murdered by Appu’s six associates. They too were arrested for the murder in 2009. Babu, who went to Coimbatore after the incident, came back to organise a wedding for his son. Students held for robberyTwo college students were arrested after they robbed a man, who had come to get applications for his nephew, in a government college at Nandanam on Saturday.Police said Velu had come to an arts college at Nandanam to get an application for his nephew. When the man came out of the college campus, two persons, threatened and robbed Velu of Rs 2,500. He complained to Police, who arrested two students Saravanan and Vijay and recovered Rs 900.Two houses burgledTwo burglaries were reported in the city on Friday and over Rs 7000 and four sovereigns of gold were stolen.Four sovereigns and Rs 2600 were stolen from a house at Kannan Street, Otteri. In another break-in reported at Peravallur, Shahid (29) of GKM Colony, a sub-inspector had gone to Delhi when his house was burgled and Rs 5000 stolen. Youth held in Patna for cheating Chennai manThe CB CID on Saturday produced a 21-year-old man before the Magistrate court at Saidapet after arresting him at Patna for reportedly cheating T Carlose of Choolaimedu of Rs 11 lakhs, by giving forged MBBS admission order. Following a complaint with the CB CID, a special team was formed and Animesh Pandey (25) and Manish Kumar (24) of Jharkhand were arrested. On Wednesday, the special team arrested Om Krishna Jyoti at Patna and seized some incriminating documents. After obtaining a transit warrant, he was brought to Chennai and produced before the court at Saidapet before remanding him to judicial custody.
