Aurangabad (Bihar): A fierce gun battle started between police and Naxals after armed Naxalites attacked Tandwa police station in Aurangabad district of Bihar on Monday the concluding day of two-day 'Bharat bandh' called by the rebels.
More than 50 heavily armed ultras surrounded the police station on Monday night and fired randomly, official sources said.
Police retaliated with heavy fire, they said, adding that further details are awaited.
Earlier, a suspected Naxalite was injured after a group of heavily-armed Naxalites attacked a CRPF's CoBRA battalion camp under Dumaria police station area in Gaya district of the state, police said on Monday.
After a three hour encounter, the suspected ultra was arrested on Sunday night.
The injured has been admitted to a hospital under police custody, Magadh range Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) N Hasnain Khan said.
The suspected Naxalite is believed to have been hit by a bullet in the encounter.
