HYDERABAD: Residents living near the Nampally court building had a hard time on Monday as the police closed all roads leading to the court ahead of Jaganmohan Reddy’s appearance in the court. On the other hand, the police high-handed behaviour in and around the court premises inconvenienced other clients and made their entry into the premises difficult. While the special CBI court hall was jam-packed with mediapersons and advocates, the other court halls wore a deserted look. Task Force police were posted on every floor of the three-storeyed building and metal detectors installed at all the main gates. Police noted down the name, contact number of every mediaperson and they were allowed into the CBI court escorted by a sub-inspector. Only a few mediapersons were allowed into the court hall citing security reasons. Police put in place a three-layer security zone within one-kilometre radius from the court. “I live near the court. I had gone to my office for night duty on Sunday and returned home late on Monday morning due to traffic jams. As I reached Red Hills, police posted a checking point and did not allow me to go the way that leads to my house. How can we reach my house?’’ asked an irritated resident, Mohammed Pasha, who works as an electrician at a private firm in Gachibowli. While setting up various check points, police did not allow four-wheelers and two-wheelers towards the court premises. They only allowed advocates after checking their ID cards. As for their clients, many of them were detained at the main gate and the lawyers had to make special efforts to get them into the court hall. ``We have a case hearing today but I have been detained for half an hour. Finally, I called up my advocate who took me into court hall,’’ said Anand Rao, a client. Rapid Action Force personnel were posted on the main road leading to the court and all business establishments and shops were forcibly closed by the police. Compounding the woes, police diverted the traffic movement in the surroundings.
