BANGALORE: Accusing that Bharatiya Janata Party government in the state neglecting to implement all the developmental works in Hassan district, in a political vendatta Janata Dal (Secular) national president and former Prime Minister H D Devegowda have threatened to stage a day-long dharna before the office of the Deputy Commissioner on 22nd of this month.JD(S) national president in a letter to Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa have accused that government was indifferent in terms of release of funds and delay in implementation of various sanctioned projects Deve Gowda charged that “there was no response from the government despite several letters wrote on the issue”.Gowda in his letter said that the elected representatives from the district including MLAs and Zilla Panchayath members have also complained about non starter of various projects and continued indifferent attitude towards the Hassan a JD(S)-dominated district in the state.Likening the government’s attitude towards the district as showing disrespect to the people of the former Prime Minister communicated in his letter that as a token of protest against showing stepmotherly treatment to the district, he would hold a siton dharna on June 22 at Hassan.Meanwhile, addressing a press conference, JD(S) floor leader and eldest son of former prime minister H D Revanna accused that while several parts of the state facing threat of drought Chief Minister was away at a resort in Kerala unmindful of the plights of the people in his home state.He also criticised the government for not taking any efforts to curb the menace of elephant attack on villages and farm lands in Hassan district.“State government have failed to instill confidence on the people who were under the constant threat from the wild elephants in Sakleshpur and other places in the district,” the former minister said.
