BALASORE: A Balasore-based NGO has been accused of duping five unemployed youths of Rs 1.80 lakh on the pretext of providing them jobs. Basudevpur police on Saturday arrested one person.Sources said the functionaries of the NGO had collected the money to engage them in regular jobs in the organisation. Though the aspirants were employed, the NGO closed shop without paying them a single rupee. One of the aspirants Goutam Barik of Basudevpur said they had given Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 each to NGO-owner Prakash Sahu and his brother Bikash who assured them of a job of Rs 6,000 salary which was to be hiked to Rs 10,000 from next year.“They gave us selection order on December 30, 2010 and engaged in survey works in schools in Soro and Balasore areas. Though we worked as per their order for a couple of months, they did not give us salary. When we demanded refund they closed down their office,” he alleged.Barik spotted Bikash while he was in Basudevpur and informed the police.
