NICE wont be allowed to cheat

HUBLI: Former prime minister and JD (S) president H D Deve Gowda said that the Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE) has its better luck today like how the lamp glitters better before it gets faded.He told reporters here on Friday that the NICE could get clearance in various cases in the several courts. “But, it will not be allowed to cheat the farmers and the farmers will hold agitation till a logical end,” he added.“The state government is acquiring fertile land from the farmers to hand over to land mafia operating in the name of several industrial companies. I will not allow this and I will travel all the 30 districts. I will submit suggestions to the government with facts and figures of where the government has acquired fertile land for industries.If the government does not withdraw the acquisition process even after that, I will start agitation against the government,” he said.“When I became chief minister, I got support from the north Karnataka MLAs also. So, the party is growing in this region,” he said.  Protest for NICE Land AcquisitionBangalore: Various farmer organisations on Friday staged a protest demanding the state government to give back the excess land it acquired for the Bangalore- Mysore Infrastructure Corridor Project. The farmers also demanded not to allow NICE to collect toll from the road users as the company had violated the frame-work agreement by not constructing cement roads.Freedom fighter H S Doreswamy took part in the protest.
