Patna: RJD chief Lalu Prasad chose the first anniversary of Bihar's NDA government on Friday to criticise his bete noire Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Lalu said he would not press for the regime's dismissal as it would "automatically" collapse because of failure on all fronts.
Ridiculing Kumar's claims of good governance and his promise to restore law and order within three months of coming to power, Lalu said a year had gone by and he had done nothing save "make false and empty promises".
He alleged that even funds given by the Central Government were not being utilised by the state. "The government has just failed, failed and failed."
When asked whether he would seek the Bihar government's dismissal, Prasad said, "We can't stoop so low. We can't press it. NDA's rule is bound to end automatically."
He alleged that cases of bribery had increased during Kumar's rule. "While small fish are caught, the big ones are at large."
On an interview published in a English daily in which Kumar had said he was working like a "sanitary inspector to clear the garbage left behind by the erstwhile RJD regime", Prasad wondered whether Kumar had become a "sweeper".
Criticising Kumar, his predecessor in the Union railway ministry, Prasad said, "He is making tall claims about the turn-around in the railways now. He is in the habit of trying to take credit for the work of others."
