HYDERABAD: The mysterious disappearance of S Sriharsha Madanna from Medwin Hospital on Wednesday has turned complicated with investigators not able to find out about his whereabouts so far.Neither policemen, relatives nor hospital authorities have any clue as to where the 33-year-old has vanished.Abids police inspector K Shiva Kumar said they were investigating based on complaints made by both relatives of the patient and hospital management.“We have released 1,500 missing posters of Sriharsha to be pastes in places like bus stands, railway stations, hospitals and 108 service vans and in buses on Kurnool route,” he said.A reward of Rs 20,000 was also announced for those able to give any information about the missing person. He further added that two teams had been formed to trace Sriharsha in the twin cities.“It may take another 24 hours to trace the patient,” the inspector said.Dr DP Bansal who treated Sriharsha said the patient was suffering from typhoid when he was admitted to the hospital at 3 p.m on Wednesday. His blood and urinals samples were taken for tests.“As he started shivering, we kept him under observation in the AMC ward. After coming back from my rounds, I could not find the patient in the ward,” he added. The deputy medical superintendent, Medwin Hospitals, Dr Vidya Dayamma said when she enquired with the security guards, she was told the patient was feeling restless, moved here and there, went to bathroom for a couple of times and then disappeared from the hospital. It happened within 30 minutes after his brother went out of the hospital, she said.“We gave the complaint at Abids police station that the patient was missing,” she added.Dr S Srimanth, younger brother of Sriharsha who was with him said, “Sriharsha wrote a letter asking his senior officials to grant him leave and handed it to me for faxing it to his office.I went out to fax the letter around 4.30 p.m and returned after 30 minutes.By the time I returned, security personnel had started to inquire about my brother and claimed Sriharsha had left the hospital.” Sriharsha is a sub-divisional engineer of BSNL working in Kurnool. He has two children, a three-yearold boy and one-year-old girl. His wife S Saritha is an assistant engineer of CPDCL in Kurnool.“We asked all our relatives but could not get any information.I pray nothing has happened to my husband. He always informs me whenever he goes out.I suspect foul play by hospital authorities,” said his wife Saritha.
