THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Contrary to the reports that the CPM and CPI have decided to end the controversy over ‘event management’ remarks by the CPI leaders about the CPM state conference, the CPM district leadership has not decided to forgive CPI leader Benoy Viswam for his remarks. Responding to the media reports that both the Communist parties have decided to end the controversy and not to pursue any legal action against Benoy Viswam, CPM leader M Vijayakumar, who was the reception committee chairman of the state conference, told Express that his party had not given any rethinking to its decision to sue Benoy Viswam for his statement. “We cannot forget a leader of the stature of Benoy Viswam making such an irresponsible statement about a party such as the CPM. We are deeply hurt over the statement that we had engaged event management group for the smooth conduct of the state conference. He ( Benoy) owes a reply to our notice” he said.Asked what may have prompted him to make such a statement, he said that sometime Benoy Viswam might have been misled by someone. “We think he may be delaying in giving a reply. If he fails to do so, the issue will remain alive. We cannot easily forget such a statement,” Vijayakumar said. Asked whether the CPM wants to settle the issue in view of the Piravom byelection, he said that the CPM had not changed its stand on the issue.
