November 26 will be observed as 'Samvidhan Divas': PM Modi
Accusing previous governments of "not awarding" Bharat Ratna to Dr Ambedkar, Modi said, "We know who got the Bharat Ratna and when. But they did not give the Bharat Ratna to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar."

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that November 26, the day Constitution was adopted, will be observed as 'Samvidhan Divas' as a step towards spreading awareness about the life of its chief architect BR Ambedkar.

"Our government has decided to declare November 26 as 'Samvidhan Divas'. On this day, every year, school children will be taught about constitution and Dr Ambedkar," he said after laying the foundation stone of Dr Ambedkar Memorial at Indu Mills Compound in Mumbai.

Accusing previous governments of "not awarding" Bharat Ratna to Dr Ambedkar, Modi said, "We know who got the Bharat Ratna and when. But they did not give the Bharat Ratna to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar."

He said that five landmarks associated with Ambedkar's life including one in Madhya Pradesh, Alipur House in Delhi, the Indu Mill memorial, Dr Ambedkar's residence in Mumbai and the newly purchased house in London will be developed as 'Panch-Tirth' (quintet pilgrimage) including one in London.

"These 'Panch-Tirath' will be holy places of people of India. They would become inspiration for those working for social equality," Modi said.

Criticising Congress, Modi said rumours are spread about BJP that it will end reservation each time an election comes.

"Many spread rumours that BJP government will remove reservation. They did this when the (Atal Bihari) Vajpayee government came to power. I want to tell my critics that states with most Dalit and OBC population have elected BJP governments," he said.
