Cuttack: Declaring that miseries of people in flood-hit areas have compounded due to water receding slowly from villages, the Odisha government on Monday deployed medical teams to conduct a disinfection sweep and provide relief to the areas.
Sources in the government said that nearly 3 lakh people have been isolated in several villages with the highest number of people being affected in marooned from 114 villages of Kendrapara District.
In Cuttack's low lying areas nearly 20,000 people continue to remain cut off.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who reviewed the flood situation in the state has asked officials to disinfect all tubewells and other water sources to ensure safe drinking water to the people.
Meanwhile in Uttar Pradesh- Allahabad and Varanasi too witnessed a flood like situation after heavy discharge of water in River Ganga.
