THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Stung by the verbal outburst of Kannur DCC president P Ramakrishnan the other day, throwing all commandments of the KPCC to maintain party discipline to the winds, the latter has issued a show cause notice to Ramakrishnan on Friday. The notice was served even as a single-member fact-finding panel appointed by the KPCC is scheduled to hold its sitting in Kannur on October 10 and 11.  The tirade of Ramakrishnan against K Sudhakaran MP had crossed all limits and gave sufficient reason for the CPM to go on the offensive. Ramakrishnan had alleged that it was Sudhakaran, the then DCC president, who had prompted CMP leader and the then Minister M V Raghavan to visit Koothuparambu even when the police insisted that he should not go there on account of the prevailing tense situation. The DYFI cadre tried to attack the Minister and, in the retaliatory police firing, five fell dead. Ramakrishnan had also alleged that with the Koothuparamba incident, the Congress was marginalised in many strongholds of Kannur district.“The stance of Ramakrishnan cannot be accepted anymore. Definitely, he will face action”, said a prominent Congress leader. “We cannot subscribe to the views of  Ramakrishnan. It is not the party stance. I don’t know the circumstance in which he made such a statement,’’ Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said. “There is no need to re-investigate the Koothuparamba case,” he added. The CMP has also come out strongly against Ramkrishnan and described his statements as reactions of an insane mind.Meanwhile, Ramakrishnan’s public stance on the Koothuparamba firing has stirred a hornet’s nest politically, with the CPM sparing no time to cash in on the situation. Opposition deputy leader Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has said that a case should be slapped against K Sudhakaran for conspiracy and K Ramakrishnan should be made a witness.“The Koothuparamba firing should be subjected to a re-investigation,” he demanded. The DYFI has also demanded a fresh probe into the Koothuparamba firing, on the basis of  fresh disclosures.“In the Naxal Varghese murder case, a re-investigation was conducted after many years. Resorting to legal recourse for a fresh probe will be thought of if necessary,’’ said T V Rajesh MLA, DYFI state secretary.
