New Delhi: The family of 13-year-old Pakistani boy Aslam, who accidentally came to Indian after taking the Samjhauta Express, is pinning hopes on Thursday's talks between the foreign secretaries of the two countries for the return of their son.
Aslam was arrested at Attari station last month for straying into India without legal documents and has been kept in a juvenile prison in Hoshiarpur after he was charged under the Indian Passports Act.
The boy has been claiming that he boarded the train to escape punishment from his father.
"I scolded him. After that he stood outside my shop for sometime. Children told me that he had run away," said his father Iftikhar.
"I appeal with both India and Pakistan to get my child back. We will bless them," his mother said.
Pakistani media on Thursday reported that the human and civil rights organisation Ansar Burney Trust International had approached the Indian Government for the release of Aslam on humanitarian grounds.
